The Long Fingers of Citizen Street
The Long Fingers of Citizen Street is an indie game set within Simon Jon Andreasen’s storyworld, adhering to all the established guidelines and principles. The game takes place on Citizen Street, Copenhagen in the 1930s, where you assume the role of an orphaned child struggling to survive in the harsh realities of street life. The universe is inspired, in part, by the works of Charles Dickens.
This project aims to showcase the story from a child's perspective, emphasizing their imagination and unique point of view. The game is a collaboration between Aleksander Fjellvang, who handles programming, and Simon Jon Andreasen, responsible for the audio design. I manage all other aspects of the project.
The game represents my vision of what life might have been like as a street child in the 1930s. I wanted to create a game without violent elements, while drawing inspiration from titles like Assassin’s Creed and Thief. Players must work their way up through the ranks of the street gang, "The Longfingers," battling for survival day by day.
The narrative is at the core of the experience, and I want to explore the dark stories and hidden corners of Citizen Street. The hope is to make the game episodic, taking players through the decades from 1930 to 1950, when the street is eventually demolished and the ghetto disappears. From the prostitutes at the bottom of Gothersgade to the industrial shops at the other end, and all the poverty in between, the game will reflect the full spectrum of street life.
As the game is part of Simon Jon Andreasen’s storyworld, it will feature characters and stories from other creators who also contribute to this shared universe. Read more about it here!
