Flora: Bridging the Analog and Digital for the Royal Danish Academy 2022

For my application to the Royal Danish Academy, the brief was to bridge the gap between the analog and digital worlds. In response, I created Flora—an app designed for those with a sense of curiosity and a love for nature.

Unlike many mobile games that serve as temporary distractions, Flora invites users to engage meaningfully with the world around them. Inspired by Pokémon GO and the photo feature in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this app utilizes AR technology and deep learning to identify and catalog plant species in real time.

By incorporating gamification, Flora transforms plant identification into an interactive, educational experience. Users not only learn to appreciate biodiversity but also contribute to citizen science efforts, gathering valuable data that supports the conservation of rare and endangered species.

Flora is my attempt to bridge the digital world with nature, helping us rediscover the beauty that surrounds us.
